Its matching social-economic status to music preference. The economic status effects the SAT scores more that the music will.

I don’t have an SAT score because in Europe we don’t rely on IQ-tests that much. Although in some tests I got an IQ between 130 and 140, I also appreciate black music a lot.
I would clearly second the statement above “correlation does not equal causation”. In fact it is not music that makes you dumb or smart, but different social groups have different cultures. Therefore it is more likely a socio-demographic and socio-economic issue than one of intelligence. I don’t think this study was intended to be racist, but in some way it tends to be abused for despicable motives.
